Books about American history are normally found in the B section on the third floor of Stiern Library. The CSUB Interlibrary Loan Service can be used by CSUB faculty, students and staff to obtain materials unavailable at CSUB.

The Kern County Library has a local history collection and historical Bakersfield newspaper holdings on microfilm.

U.S. national library.
MELVYL – The University of California Library Catalog
Searches the research libraries of the UC system, California State Historical Association and the California State Library.
New York Public Library
Searches NPL and provides access to it research libraries.
